Ali Hussein & the Theater

Ali Hussein studied theater at the Community College in 2019, majoring in acting and directing, and had many participations not only as an actor, but also as an assistant director, composer, and producer.

Between Two Hearts

Artist Ali Hussein played the role of Dr. Saji in the play "Between Two Hearts," where he unintentionally causes an attempt on the life of a village child. Consequently, the village leader pressures him to take the heart of a child in the village who is facing death due to a bullet lodged in his head and transplant it into his own sick son. Dr. Saji refuses to perform the operation without the family’s consent, leading to a series of events. The play won the Best Overall Production Award, along with five other awards at the Doha Theatre Festival 2024, including Best Script, Best Music, Best Costumes, Best Director, and Best Promising Actor.

Six Characters in Search of an Author

Artist Ali Hussein played the role of the son in the play "Six Characters in Search of an Author," which was presented at the University Theatre Festival in 2022 by students from the Community College in the Acting program. The play won the Lulwa Al-Nasr Appreciation Award for its performance, with special recognition for the role of the daughter. The story revolves around characters searching for roles and plays to perform, culminating in a series of scenes from Qatari theatre.

Picnic on the Battlefield

At the first University Theatre Festival in 2019, artist Ali Hussein participated as a student from the Community College in the play "Picnic on the Battlefield" by the Spanish writer Fernando Arrabal, directed by Faisal Rashid. He played the role of a nurse who, along with his colleague, searches for the bodies of the dead to boast about. The play revolves around parents visiting their son on the battlefield and encountering various situations in the field.

Villa 24

The play revolves around a Qatari family that rents their home to several Arab families, leading to various humorous situations. Artist Ali Hussein played the role of a member of the Iraqi troupe, alongside Faisal Rashid and Rahma Riyadh, who portrayed the couple that owns the troupe.

The Stray Dog

Artist Ali Hussein played the role of a journalist in the play "The Stray Dog," written by Mandooh Adwan and directed by Nora Al-Hajri, which was performed at the Community College Theatre in celebration of Arabic Language Day. The play's plot centers around a woman who is attacked by a stray dog that has escaped from its owner, and a young man who rescues her. The journalist, who witnesses the incident, initially praises the young man for saving the woman, but once he discovers that he is Arab, he turns against him and the two women.

Al-Asma'i Baqouh,

At the International Book Fair 2022, the Ministry of Culture presented a theatrical performance titled "Al-Asma'i Baqouh," directed by artist Saad Boucheid and written by Abdulrahim Al-Sadiqi and Taysir Abdullah. The musical compositions for the play were created by composer Ali Hussein, and the songs were arranged by artist Abdulrahman Al-Riyami.

Khashisha

In the play "Khashisha" in 2017, artist Ali Hussein presented his first musical theatrical work, executing the musical vision and composing four songs of different styles.The arrangements for the songs, as well as the introductory music, were done by artist Abdulrahman Al-Riyami.

Oud Al-Hina

Artist Ali Hussein produced the play "Oud Al-Hina" at the Doha Theatre Festival in 2023 and also worked as an assistant director. The play was written and directed by artist Saad Boucheid and is adapted from research and studies by writer Saleh Gharib.

Housh Al-Bayt 

Artist Ali Hussein composed two songs for the operetta "Housh Al-Bayt,"  in addition to developing a traditional song. He also oversaw the accompanying video production. This performance was presented on two occasions: National Day at Darb Al-Saai in 2022 and at Expo 2023, where he worked as an assistant director. The show was written and directed by Saad Boucheid.

Opening of the World Judo Championship

Under the vision of artist and director Hanan Sadiq, Ali Hussein composed the song "Mazhidnaaha," performed by artist Hamad Al-Khazina. He also developed the musical vision for the sea scene and performed a poem. The musical works were written by poet Radi Al-Hajri and arranged by Abdulrahman Al-Riyami. Ali Hussein oversaw the overall musical direction for the opening ceremony.

Karim Challenges the Boss

Ali Hussein was responsible for the musical and executive vision of the play "Kareem Challenges the Boss," which features lyrics and composition by artist and director Faisal Rashid. The play, written by Talib Al-Dos, was produced by Al-Husn Production. The musical arrangements were done by Abdulrahman Al-Riyami, and sound engineering was handled by Ali Hussein.

Inside the Game

Qatari artist and composer Ali Hussein wrote and composed the songs for the play "Inside the Game," produced by MW Media. The songs were arranged by Abdulrahman Al-Riyami. The actors in the play performed the songs, which serve as entrance songs for each character. Each song's lyrics focus on the character's personality, behavior, traits, and talents. Additionally, there is a final song performed by all the actors together, collaborating against the antagonist, Babaji.

Yananwat Sealine

Artist Ali Hussein executed and recorded the songs for the play, inspired by the traditional Samri arts, under the supervision of artist Mohammed Al-Sayegh. He also handled the recording for the actors and implemented the sound effects.

Gypsies of the Sea

Artist Ali Hussein designed the opening sequence for the play "Gypsies of the Sea" and handled the sound effects, while the musical arrangements were done by artist Abdulrahman Al-Riyami. The play participated in the Gulf Theatre Festival in Sharjah in 2023, where artist Faisal Rashid won the Best Supporting Actor award. The play was also re-staged during the Ministry of Culture's World Theatre Day celebration.

Achieve Your Dream

Artist Ali Hussein composed the closing song for the puppet play "Achieve Your Dream," which was presented at Darb Al-Saai as part of the theatrical performances held in conjunction with National Day and the Fifa World Cup 2022 celebrations. The song's lyrics were written by Taysir Abdullah, arranged by Abdulrahman Al-Riyami, and performed by media personality Shaimaa Al-Hammadi.

The Mind is a Blessing

Artist Ali Hussein composed the songs for the play "The Mind is a Blessing," written by director Hanan Sadiq. He also performed and arranged the song "The Magus." The play was presented at the Al-Hekma Square in Katara as part of the Katara Eid al-Adha celebrations in 2023. Additionally, he recorded the dialogues and the entire play.
